Yoko, a light and elegant chair design, merges Japanese names with Scandinavian lines in a piece of furniture that embodies an aesthetic matrix, blending the flavors of two cultures. Thanks to the exceptional craftsmanship of the Japanese-Danish couple Inoda+Sveje, a contrast is formed through continuous balance. The constant cross-referencing between two cultures, styles, and manufacturing techniques results in a project featuring armchairs, dining side chairs, and benches/stools, characterized by dual lightness: physical and aesthetic.

Delicate and sinuous lines, crafted using intricate joinery techniques typically used for fine cabinetry, enrich the structure of the legs and arms. These are available in either licorice-colored lacquered white ash solid open-pore wood or light brown solid Canaletto walnut, offering a color choice that sets a tone of elegant silhouette for more assertive selections.

Solid ash wood with perforated licorice-colored lacquer, or solid canaletto walnut in a light brown, matte polyester finish, kiln-dried.

Made on CNC machines and assembled with wooden dowels and glue. The seat and backrest consist of a metal frame coated with flame-retardant polyurethane foam, then covered with breathable, heat-bonded fiber laminated onto hypoallergenic white cotton fabric. 

In the armchair and footstool, there is an additional layer of goose down for softness and fluffiness. 

The upholstery on the backrest and seat cushion features topstitching. Each arm near the backrest has a painted bronze-colored decorative stainless steel screw.

The wooden frame features a joint where the legs meet the arms, both at the front and back: due to the clever use of wood materials, this structural joint becomes decorative. In this project, the woodworking expertise inherent to Nordic and Japanese craftsmanship is combined with the historical expertise of Italian manufacturers who have been specialists in finely upholstered furniture for decades. Yoko is a harmonious blend of technology, elegance, and comfort.
